Weekly Refection

Term 2 week 9 This is how my week went. On Monday Me, Kelsi and Abby helped make lolly bags for the disco. We made around 100 bags of lollies in our group. We sorted, bagged and packed all the lollies. It was a lot of work but I enjoyed it.

On Tuesday me and some other kids in the class went to see Mama Mia at Avonside girls.I really enjoyed it. I like seeing all of the dancing and singing. The show was about 2 hours long but there was a break in the middle of the show.

On Wednesday there was a matariki Disco for the year 1,2,3,4,5 and 6s. At 4:00pm the year 1,2,3 disco started I was on food for the first 45 mins I really like doing food and surviving drinks, chips and lollies to the kids at the year 4,5 and 6 disco that started around 5:30 I did food on that disco too and I was very happy to help with the food.

On Thursday I went to tech and made cupcakes. I didn’t realize how easy they were to make. I made vanilla cupcakes and instead of icing we put chocolate buttons and m&ms on them which was easier than having to get all messy with icing.

I have had a VERY good week and I’m excited for the school holidays tomorrow.

Oxford Maths

Oxford Maths

This year we have started using oxford maths. It’s a website where you can do math tests and we use our books sometimes to study what we are learning so we know what the questions mean.

We have been working on lots of different stuff like fractions, decimals and percentages and we use lots of different ways to solve the equations. Last term we worked on prime numbers and prime fractions, whole numbers, polygons and circles. We have done lots of different topics throughout this year.

The way Oxford maths works is mostly every week we do at least one oxford test or just a post test. Our test was set by our teacher Mr Redmond so he can see what level we are at. I don’t mind doing the Oxford test because I’m interested in what score I get to see if I have been improving. We mostly work in our books about the topic and answer some of our own questions. The post tests and Oxford tests are always about the topic we are writing about in our books.

My opinion about Oxford Maths is I’m not the biggest fan only because I don’t always get the questions but I get there eventually but the quality is really good in my opinion.

Action Station Earring Making

This term for action stations I chose earring making. For the first and second week we first started by drawing our Earring plans out on a piece of paper. For week three we started drafting our clay earrings to see what we wanted to make. We missed a few of our sessions but after that we got to finish them and put them in the oven and then we’ll have some pretty earrings. Something I found difficult was getting the clay out of the little moulds but then I got a trick where you just push your pinkie finger in it and it should come out. Overall, I really enjoyed earring making.

Week 10 Reflection

Week 10 term 1. This week has been a pretty good week. On Thursday I had digital technology. For that we did Mine craft and had to build a battle ground where we could hide and store all our stuff. This week we had to battle the British soldiers. My team defeated all of the British and we had an escape door that went out to get away from them.

The challenge I had this week was maths. For maths we are doing geometry and we had to fill out a page in ours books were it said like is this shape a acute or obtuse I found it hard at first but I got my friends to explain it again and I got 27 right which I was very proud of myself for. Overall I enjoyed this week and my goal for next week is to work hard on my literacy.  A RISE value I did was successes and that was when I got 27 questions right in maths.

Girls Self Defence

For the last few Mondays and Tuesdays the Year 8 girls have been learning self defence with our teacher Linda. She has taught us how to keep ourselves safe in dangerous situations. We learnt lots of real stories from other kids that Linda has taught. We were taught what to do if anything happens to us like if we were grabbed from the back or someone is trying to pull us in a car. She told us to be loud and make a scene so we get people addition or to scary the attacker off . My favourite was the behind strangle where someone tries to strangle you from the back and you pull their arm down and stomp on their foot then run away. Overall I REALLY enjoyed self defence and I really do recommend it to younger kids going into high school.

Week 9 Reflection

Week 9 term 1. This week I have had a pretty good week. On Wednesday I wrote letters to the council about why I do not like the school lunches and what’s bad about them I found that fun because I’m not a fan of the school lunches and I would like them to be changed. A challenge I faced was in maths when I didn’t understand the question and was struggling but then I asked my friend for some help then I got. Overall I have enjoyed this week and am excited to see what week 10 brings me and my goal for next week is to work hard on my maths.

Theater Sports

For the last few weeks of this term every Friday we do something called action stations I picked theatre Sports. What we do is play theatre Sports games and me and some of my friends made a little play about animals doing a swimming race I was in a group with Daisy Zita Malaya and Paige I found it fun and I would do it again.

Week 5 Reflection

This week has been really great, here is how it went. This morning I did a test for maths I got 58/60 on 7 times tables and division and I’m very proud of myself for that. On Thursday I went to tech. For tech I’m doing digital technology With our teacher Ms Gorman. I coded a timer on this parkour game to see how fast I can play it I fished it and played it it was hard but I found it also fun. I wonder what week 7 will bring me.

Fitness Goal

My fitness goal is to do the whole confidence course nonstop. The only thing that is stopping me from doing the whole confidence course is the blue climbing frame part.I  find it scary because of how high it is and I feel like I will fall but one day I will get courage to do it and achieve my goal.

Week 2 Reflective

This week has been the 2nd week of school this year and this is how my week went.

This week I have enjoyed going to year 8 tech. I am doing digital technology with miss Gorman I really like her because she lets me and my friends help each other and work together. I enjoyed  what we did we were coding and making a game. To me it wasn’t too hard and I like that.

What I found challenging was being in a new maths group with Mr Redmond. My old maths group was with talei and that was last year. So far I have been enjoying Mr Redmond’s maths group its giving me a challenge in maths and I like that and I feel like that is getting me ready for high school maths.
